Sapo Ceremony

Sapo, also known as Kambô, contains neurotoxic substances that strengthen the immune system by provoking the destruction of pathogenic microorganisms and producing valuable antibodies. The indigenous “Jaguar” and “Cat People” believe that it removes spiritual blockages and is provided by the jungle for the health of those who defend it. The ceremony is still actively practiced in many indigenous Amazonian cultures, including the Matses tribe in Peru. This video shows the process as performed in the remote village of Remoyacu by the Sapo shaman.
